What: This popular beach is one of many beaches in the big bay of Alcúdia in the north. Playa de Muro is wide and very generous in all kinds of ways. It suits everyone, from young to old, since it is easy to access the beach with both strollers and wheelchairs. It´s one of the largest beaches on the island. It is six kilometers long and divided in to four sections. There are playgrounds for the little ones, restaurants, toilets, showers and much more. There are also many hotels in this area. The sand is white and the water is more clear here than in the south. You have to walk far out before it gets deep, so this beach is perfect for families with small children. You can find all kinds of water activities here.
Where: Playa de Muro is located in the center of the bay of Alcúdia. It is next to the village Muro and also close to Alúdia and Can Picafort. Driving from Palma, it takes approximately one hour. Find it on a map here.
Fun to know: In this same area you will find the S’Albufera Natural park, which is a paradise for bird watchers, but also for hikers and cyclists. And not far, is the Ancanada golf club, just to mention a few things. So, with the many activities on land together with the ones in the water, there is something for everyone. Playa de Muro is one of the cleanest beaches on the island and has therefore been awarded with the “blue flag certification”, which stands for clean water and great environmental management.
We recommend: The beach restaurant Ponderosa is well worth a visit. They have plenty of tables and is located right on the beach. Why not try the local paella, while having your feet in the sand and enjoying both the food and the view.
